Michael’s Success:

“I’m extremely proud to have landed the best starting job at a Canadian company I love. This July I’ll start working at Rogers Communications in their New Grad Leadership Development Program – IT Stream! Looking forward to putting my degree to work!”

Michael D. McDonald, BBA Candidate 2018

Michael McDonald is an analyst and aspiring IT project manager, wrapping up his final year in the BBA program. While saying good-bye to Schulich will be bittersweet, he has big things on the horizon: he was recently offered an exciting position with Rogers Communications, as part of its graduate development rotational program in the IT stream. Michael will gain important leadership skills while working his way through a variety of divisions of the company – affording him a rich array of learning opportunities.

“What really excites me about the new graduate IT program at Rogers is how diverse the experience will be,” says Michael. “Within one year, I’ll work in different roles in various IT-related departments. This gives me the chance to network and really find the perfect role for me within the company.”

Michael is career driven, and has known for some time which direction he was headed. He has a passion for IT, and has worked with companies including Scotiabank and BlackBerry. In five years, his mid-level career goal is to be a project manager leading innovative IT projects.

“Within one year, I’ll work in different roles in various IT-related departments. This gives me the chance to network and really find the perfect role for me within the company.”

“I also hope to continue with education related pursuits, such as obtaining a PMP designation and perhaps even completing an MBA,” says Michael. “In the future, I hope to also teach at Schulich as a part-time instructor of an OMIS course!”

His aspiration to return to the school is testament to the fact that Michael has long felt home at Schulich. “I remember visiting the school and immediately feeling like I belonged,” he recalls. “The student body is so diverse and accepting.”

In fact, he still carries a favourite recollection from his early days in the program.

“One of the best memories I have is from the first day of MGMT 1000,” remembers Michael. “It was exhilarating to look around the room and see bright like-minded students from all over the world, knowing that each and everyone of us is here to learn and to try to be the best version of ourselves possible!”

Join us in congratulating Michael on continuing to live his personal vision of success.
