RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and create content such as flyers, graphics, and other marketing material for RISC’s social media platforms, adhering to the existing brand guidelines.
  • Monitor and update the social media platforms, as and when required.
  • Work on seamless linkages of our social media accounts ensuring uniform content and tone of voice for landing pages, graphics, and other elements.
  • Create social media events, as and when required.
  • Assist in the organization of large-scale events such as Colloquia.
  • Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders to organize event venues and resources.
  • Collect and compile event information for both dissemination and record-keeping.
  • Update the RISC website with current events, relevant news, images, videos, etc.
  • Edit event photos and videos for publishing in the public domain.
  • Other related duties, as required.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Student of University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, Western University and York University.
  • Completed or working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations or related field. (Required)
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with social media handles such as LinkedIn, Youtube, etc. (Required)
  • Knowledge of design tools such as Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, etc. (Required)
  • Knowledge of HTML, website content management (e.g. WordPress) and graphic design. (Required)
  • Content production, video-making, graphic design and photography experience. (Desired)
  • Self-starter, good time management, creative, with the ability to work autonomously. (Required)
  • Good computer skills especially in the use of publishing tools.
  • Multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support in the planning, organization, and execution of RISC events, which may include colloquia, symposia, meetings, and workshops, amongst others.
  • Work in collaboration with the design and communication personnel to advertize events, in a timely manner.
  • Create and disseminate event invitations via Outlook.
  • Work within the frame of the budget allocated for each event.
  • Record expenses in a relevant document, collect receipts and liaise in this regard with the Finance team.
  • Organize event venues (eg. meeting room booking) and/or virtual mediums (eg. Zoom meeting links).
  • Organize resources required for events (eg. stationery, refreshments, etc.).
  • Liaise with event attendees, speakers, and other important entities for information gathering and information exchange purposes.
  • Compile and record-keep the list and details of attendees, speakers and other important entities involved in RISC’s events.
  • Assist with the execution of all events, by being present and active (eg. venue setup, technology setup, etc.).
  • Ensure the documentation of all events (eg. by taking photographs and/or videos for sharing on social media).
  • Other related duties, as required.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Student of the University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, Western University, and York University.
  • Completed or working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication, Business Management, Marketing, Public Relations, or related fields. (Required)
  • Knowledge of and previous experience in event planning and management. (Required)
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling tools such as Teams Planner, Outlook Calendar, Outlook To Do, etc. (Required)
  • Knowledge of Excel, Zoom meeting, Teams meeting, Doodle, etc (Required)
  • Knowledge and experience in budget planning and management. (Required)
  • Self-starter, good time management with the ability to work autonomously. (Required)
  • Good computer skills, with an affinity for technology and technological tools (eg. webcam). (Desired)
  • Multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
