What is NSSE?
NSSE stands for the National Survey of Student Engagement. It is widely recognized as a pre-eminent tool for collecting information about academic quality.
The 2014 NSSE survey period at York will run from February 11 to March 31. The survey will be administered to all students in the first year and the final year of a four-year undergraduate degree, excluding law and education programs. NSSE is one of the most important surveys York participates in. It gives our students the opportunity to tell the administration what is working for them, what they would like to get out of their university experience, and what they need to make their experience here at York more rewarding and fulfilling.
The survey will take 20 – 30 minutes to complete. You will receive an email from President Shoukri on February 11th inviting you to complete the NSSE survey. Please ensure you have updated your primary email address on the Registrar’s Office website under “Change my Profile”.
What is the NSSE Cup?
Similar to the York Torch, Faculties will compete against each other and the President will award the Champion Cup to the Faculty with the highest participation rate after the survey ends on March 31, 2014. The winning Faculty gets to keep the Cup – and the bragging rights – until the next administration of NSSE in three years’ time. SCHULICH, LET’S BRING HOME THE CUP!

Every student who completes the survey will get a virtual coupon added to their YU-card so they can enjoy either a grande-sized beverage of their choice at Starbucks on the Keele campus or a medium-sized beverage at Tim Hortons on the Glendon campus.
