An exciting announcement from Detlev Zwick, Undergraduate Program Director.

It is my pleasure to announce that Dean Horvath and Associate Dean Academics Marcus Biehl have approved a program that the Undergraduate Program leadership has been working on for a long time in consultation with the UBS executive (I would especially like to thank Houman Tahavori for his tremendous help). The program is called the Schulich School of Business Undergraduate Case Competitions Program. It is designed to streamline and professionalize the process of selecting and preparing students and student teams for high profile competitions. Such a program became a priority for the Undergraduate Program Leadership because of the steadily rising interest among our undergraduate students to compete at case competitions. To recognize this trend, we pushed the School to consider providing resources to make sure that we send to these competitions well prepared teams that comport themselves competently and professionally.

It is thus my pleasure to introduce to all BBA and iBBA students the Director of this new program, Prof. Jane-Michèle Clark.

In this role she will…

    • Be responsible for determining which competitions receive funding from the school.
    • Determine which teams will represent SSB in key competitions, and who will be on each of these teams.
    • Introduce a free “Case Competition Success” course that will be open to all undergrads wishing to improve their case solving, preparation and presentation skills.
    • Provide competition coaching for all undergrad teams that will be representing the Schulich School of Business

Prof. Clark will be working very closely with the UBS and with Prof. Kevin Lyons, who will continue to coach and have responsibility for the JDC Case Competition.

Details of the new program will be unveiled at two introductory sessions being held next week:

  • 5:45 – 6:30 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in room W132
  • 2:30 – 3:15 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 in room N109

Please click here to register for one of the two introductory sessions. These sessions will also provide an opportunity for you to offer suggestions to help improve the program that has been developed.

We are all very proud of our students’ performance in competitions to date and believe this program will further enhance your abilities to compete.

Please join me in welcoming Prof. Clark to the Undergraduate team.

Sincerely,
Detlev Zwick, Undergraduate Program Director
