Over the past year we revised several Schulich policies that will impact you in the coming year. To make your transition into September easier, we have highlighted these key changes below.

[box]Exchange:

  • All academic courses successfully completed on exchange can now be transferred to the Schulich degree as either a business or non-business elective, language study or globally-focused study course. (page 29 of Undergraduate Handbook)

[/box][box]Grading:

  • Students pass or fail a course on the basis of their final course average, without the additional requirement of having to obtain a passing grade on a final examination. This policy does not exclude the possibility of a final examination representing more than 50% of the final grade in a particular course or the requirement that a student pass a specific course lab component.
  • Grade distributions for courses have been articulated on page 17 of the Undergraduate Handbook.
  • Students are no longer required to repeat a passed course before proceeding to the next level of that course. For example if a student wants to repeat AP/ECON 1000, they can do so after completing AP/ECON 2000. Students who failed a core course, must repeat it before moving on to the next level of that course or to satisfy prerequisite requirements.

[/box][box]Examinations:

  • Students must present their YU-card and sign the attendance sheet at every exam.
  • Review p. 20 of the Handbook for an expanded list of exam conduct expectations.
  • Within 24 hours of missing a final examination students must contact the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs at (416) 736-5081. Students must also contact their course instructor.  Formal, original documentation regarding the reason for missing the final exam must be submitted to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs (Room W262P) within 48 hours of missing the final exam.

[/box][box]Academic Honesty:

  • The exploratory meeting process has been streamlined. Students charged with a breach of academic honesty should expect a faster resolution with severe penalties for breaches of academic honesty.
