Camping

Are you new to Canada and interested in Ontario’s key outdoor destinations or camping but have no experience? Parks Canada and Ontario Parks want you to start planning a trip to its national parks and historic sites.

Learn to Camp Program

If you dream of camping in Canada’s national parks but do not have any camping experience, register for Parks Canada’s Learn-to camp events, co-presented with Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC). These events feature workshops on camping related skills like how to set up a tent or cook outdoors. Participants also have the opportunity to enjoy fun interactive programs and other Parks Canada activities. You can also call 1-888-773-8888 (toll free) for more information.

Ontario parks also provide a Learn to Camp program.  Please click here for more information.

Parkbus

If you don’t have a car, Parkbus provides express bus service to key outdoor destinations in Ontario – Algonquin, Killarney, Grundy Lake Provincial Parks as well as Bruce Peninsula National Park and Tobermory. If you prefer to sleep inside, many lodges and hotels provide pick-up service at Parkbus stops. Parkbus was co-founded by Schulich graduate Boris Issaev (IMBA 2014), with the aim of making the great outdoors approachable to city dwellers by means other than a car. It is a government funded service not only to campgrounds, hiking trails, lodges and canoe access points but also to outdoor outfitters. MEC also offers a special discount to Parkbus users.

Contact 1-800-928-7101 or visit www.parkbus.ca for more information. Using the discount code ‘schulich’ as a Schulich student you will get a 10% discount on any Parkbus services, on top of a 10% student discount!

Get outside and explore beautiful Ontario!
