Last week the Schulich School of Business welcomed its incoming BBAs and iBBAs in the longest-running frosh week in Schulich history!

With 432 new undergrads, seven days of orientation activities and a ton of new games, themes and awards, the week promised to be a momentous one.

It definitely lived up to expectations. Highlights included a scavenger hunt in downtown Toronto, a personal address to the incoming class from Dean Horvath, and a university-wide YorkU Pride Event at the Aviva Centre.

The festivities culminated in thunderous closing ceremonies and frosh awards where students were honoured for their outstanding contributions and leadership throughout the week.

2019s: You are a remarkable and carefully chosen cohort.

As mentioned in September Shoutouts, you were the first ever to complete a supplementary video application for admission to Schulich. The videos showcased your personalities, creative thinking and presentation skills. Not only are you top-scoring high achievers, but you are exceptionally articulate, passionate and engaging.

2019s, you were also voted unanimously to be the loudest, most spirited class in Schulich orientation week history! This is not only a testament to YOU, but to your incredible upper year student ambassadors and frosh executive who inspired you through countless cheer-offs, creative costumes, choreographed performances and more.

But you know what might be the most noteworthy of all, 2019s?

Amid the colourful regalia, games and echoing cheers, we saw the surfacing qualities of future business leaders.

We saw you encourage and rally your peers from across the globe. We watched you analyze, evaluate and match the efforts of your competitors, only to congratulate and learn from them when you were outwitted or out-maneuvered.

We witnessed students extending a hand to those who were hesitant; seeking out hidden strengths and talents as you coaxed the best from each other.

We heard you speak about your ambitions unabashedly and ask your questions with a frank and urgent curiosity.
