  • Want to earn credit, complete your degree, and launch your career – all at the same time?
  • Ready to apply your advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills to a real-world challenge?
  • Are you eager to do a team capstone project with students across YorkU and to be mentored by professionals in the GTA?

If you answered YES, then C4 might be for you!

What is C4?

Cross-Campus Capstone Classroom (C4 for short) is a new initiative that brings students together across York University in multi-disciplinary teams to work on a year-long capstone project with a social impact.

What’s a Capstone?

Capstones are “finishing year” experiences that consolidate what graduating students have previously learned and prepare students to succeed after graduation through hands-on experience. They are high-impact practices that require advanced critical and creative thinking, and that set students apart in the job market.

How Does C4 Work?

In September, we will work together to carefully match your skills and career goals with a project inspired by one of YorkU’s off-campus partners. You will spend the year collaborating with students from other departments, being mentored by a team of capstone professors and workplace experts, and earning credits toward your degree within your major – all at the same time.

How Do I Sign Up?

Interested students should register in a designated 6.00 C4-linked course within your home department—look for a full-year directed reading, independent study, senior thesis, or capstone course. We’ll take it from there. For more information, please let us know you are interested by signing up at tiny.cc/c8yimz or reach out anytime to your program’s C4 point person and/or the C4 Team at C4Class@yorku.ca.

Important Notes for Schulich students:

This course will be taken as a 6.00 credit Guided Study. Students must complete and submit the Guided Study Form and find a Schulich faculty member who will agree to follow the C4 outline. Any application to undertake the C4 is pending approval from Student & Enrolment Services. Speak to an academic advisor to confirm your study plans.
