Schulich School of Business Student Chosen on Junior Team Canada Trade Mission

Toronto, Ontario – May 7, 2014 – Akash Sidhu, an 18-year-old Schulich School of Business student, has been selected to join 35 of Canada’s top young leaders on a Trade Mission to China.

He and his fellow young Canadians will represent their communities and Canada as a whole this August on a delegation which will take them half way around the world. This summer’s mission will focus on building connections between Canadian and Chinese businesses, government, community, and cultural organizations. Akash is extremely excited for the opportunity and is honored to have been selected. The Junior Team Canada program is designed to create the next generation of Canadian leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the global marketplace at home or abroad.

The Junior Team Canada program represents Canada at home and internationally through national conferences, trade missions and special assignments like the G8, G20 and APEC summits. As ambassadors, they will meet with leaders abroad from business, government and the community to promote Canada’s economic interests, learn about business and culture in Asia as well as further develop trade relationships in the area.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity because I will be able to represent my country as well as my school proudly on the world stage. This is the exact experience I need, so I can gain the tools and resources to help shape my global mindset and make a large impact in the community”.

~ Akash Sidhu, BBA’17

Akash and other young leaders were selected from a group of 650 who participated in the Economic Round Table series from coast to coast. The mission departs in late July with a return date in mid-August.
