Mirha Juma – Schulich Summer Internship Program at Gutmann North America

Mirha Juma was a student in the iBBA program at Schulich School of Business (class of 2025), York University. She passed away tragically on 9th March 2022. At the time of her death, she was actively interviewing for summer internship programs for the summer after her first year at Schulich. In her memory, Gutman North America (GNA) has partnered with the Schulich School of Business to commence a summer internship program for a first-year student in the iBBA or BBA program (the, “Internship”).

This Internship will be based in the Oakville offices of GNA and will be for a duration of 8 weeks during the months of July and August each year. The motivation behind this program is to introduce talented young students to a multi-functional corporate work environment early in their university journey, at a time when summer internships are hard to find otherwise. The intern will be paired with a mentor at GNA who will ensure that they get an introduction to the various disciplines within the organization including marketing, finance, supply chain and human resources.

This opportunity is open to 1st and 2nd year iBBA/BBA students. Short listed students will be interviewed over a video call or in person at the offices of GNA. The criteria for selection will include the following:

  • demonstrated academic achievement at Schulich;
  • advanced research, analytical and presentation skills;
  • general interest in international business; and,
  • an ambitious and resourceful personality.

Preference will be given to a female student given the genesis of this Internship.
